Get to know The Martinez Brothers

Chris and Steve Martinez have experienced one of the most incredible come-ups in electronic music. From playing drums in their local church to headlining clubs and festivals worldwide, while setting up two record labels and redefining modern house music along the way.

As The Martinez Brothers begin the third year of their acclaimed Hï Ibiza residency, let's take a look at the journey of these house music originals.

A Spiritual Thing

Chris and Steve were encouraged to pursue music by their father, who along with enrolling them in Church bands and booking their early DJ gigs would inspire his sons with stories of his time as a regular at The Paradise Garage and David Mancuso's Loft.

Meeting a Mentor

New York institution Dennis Ferrer would meet The Martinez Brothers early in their journey and became a mentor, helping with DJ bookings and releasing four of their EPs on his Objektivity label.

Cuttin' Headz

In 2013 the Bros debuted their tastemaker label Cuttin' Headz. A project that celebrates the diversity of The Martinez Brothers' sound and has released everything from hip hop and funk to house and techno.

Teaming With Troxler

One of the Bros' longest-running collaborators is Detroit DJ and producer Seth Troxler. In 2013 the trio created Tuskeegee as a platform to release house music from minority and BIPOC artists.

Fashion Forward

After a chance meeting in Ibiza, fashion designer Riccardo Tisci, enlisted the brothers for sound design during his runways as Creative Director for Givenchy. Since then, the Bros have collaborated with many fashion brands and signed to IMG Models.

DJs of the Year

In 2014, seven years after their first release on Objektivity, The Bros were recognised as the DJs of the Year by Mixmag.

Working With House Royalty

Steve Martinez has discussed how his hip hop loving friends would make fun of him for listening to Louie Vega records in high school, so it was a full-circle moment when they released the instant house classic "Let It Go" with Louie and Marc E Bassy in 2019.

International Outlook

The Bros have continually championed the international music that has influenced their sound. This collaboration with Guatemalan DJ Gordo, and Nigerian rapper Rema with a remix from Brazilian Mochakk being a prime example.

Destination: Hï Ibiza

In 2022 Hï Ibiza founder Yann Pissenem invited The Martinez Brothers to collaborate on a weekly residency showcasing the best in international house sounds in the Theatre every Tuesday.

Championing New Talent

The Martinez Brothers continue to identify and collaborate with up and coming stars from around the world. In the summer of 2023 they dropped "Pleasure Peak" with UK vocalist Eliza Rose.

House Kings of Ibiza

Now in their third year, the residency has become the destination for house music fans on the island.
